Sourcing
All specimens, skulls, and natural history items are ethically & legally sourced. We do not harm animals, we love animals, and view specimens as a way to treasure them in their afterlife. All of our animal bones, skulls, and specimens are ethically sourced, meaning the animals are not killed to be sold. Many of the specimens come from ranches and farms where the animals are found dead, or died in their possession. Bones and Skulls are all sourced inside the United States.
Our Lucite specimens are all imported from China. Here is a statement from our supplier in China regarding sourcing: "All specimens are inspected by US Fish and wildlife under our license. Most of the creatures with the exception of the Scorpion and Spiders are part of an eradication program in China. The Scorpions and Spiders are farm raised (for pharmaceutical mostly). All are humanely euthanized, before being sealed in Lucite." - If you have any questions pertaining to sourcing of animal products, please free to email us at any time.
All of the Butterflies and insects used in our framed shadowboxes have been raised on natural cruelty free tropical farms around the world. These educational farms, aviaries, and co-ops provide a real source of income for native people who would otherwise have to sell trees off of their land or raise cattle which are both ecologically disastrous. Tropical insects are important members of these fragile ecosystems. If their natural habitats are allowed to disappear, then they to will vanish forever. Everything possible must be done to preserve them.
